This email contains a lot of important information.  Please take a few minutes to read through it and let us know if you have any questions.

We’ll be using email to contact you about practices, games and to relay other important notices or changes to the schedule.   This message has been sent to all of the email addresses we were provided with.  Please tell me if you want to have an address added or removed from the list.

The season begins on September 11th.  The schedule for the season is not yet available.  I will send it out as soon as it is finalized.

Practices:  We would like to schedule our practices for _________ afternoons at _____pm at ____ Field.  If this presents an unworkable conflict for you, please let me know ASAP so we can try to find a practice time that works for everyone.  Our first practice will be next DAY & DATE.

Please have your child bring: a soccer ball, water and wear shin pads.  No earrings!!!

Uniforms: If you ordered uniforms when you registered, I will have them at the first practice.  If the uniform doesn’t fit, you can exchange it at Champions Sporting Goods in Belmont Center.

Team & BSA Philosophy:  Our approach is to encourage the kids to work as a team and to contribute all they can as team players. Someone might let in a losing goal or miss an open net, but we emphasize that we win as a team and lose as a team. We will work on further developing ball handing skills, understanding of positioning and flow of the game.  Everyone will play every position, including goalkeeper and everyone will get equal playing time. We will encourage the children to respect the game, their teammates, the opposing players and of course the referee. We look forward to everyone having a fun filled season, winning some games and becoming better players

Zero Tolerance: We were asked by the league to send a reminder of the BAYS Zero Tolerance policy.  No one is allowed to speak to the referee or comment to them about the game or the calls they may have made. We will emphasize this with all our players, I would appreciate if you could all assist and monitor the other parents and visitors on the spectator sidelines.

Our Schedule:  Our home schedule will be posted at: www.belmontsoccer.com and the overall schedule will be on www.bays.org website (REPLACE THIS WITH YOUR TEAM’S INFO --> (we are _____).  Please remember, the weekly updates that we send will take precedent over the posted schedules.

Game days: please arrive to the field 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

One quick note about games – We encourage cheering both the team and the individual players, but not coaching or yelling instructions to the kids.  Please leave the coaching to us.  The coaching staff is asking some things of the kids – positional play, playing the ball on the ground rather than in the air, possession rather than random kicking – that may not lead to perfect results right away, but it is a process and we want to make sure they don’t get confused with mixed messages from the fans.  We’re more than happy to speak with any of you about questions you might have in this regard, we just ask that we do it at an appropriate time, preferably after a practice or in between games and practices, and not after a game or in the presence of the kids.  Thanks in advance for your support in this manner.

Cold weather: Please dress appropriately for colder weather. It is a good idea to wear a sweatshirt under your soccer jersey on a cold day. Light gloves and a soft hat (no brim) can also be worn.

Rain outs: For home games, the game day status is posted at:  www.belmontsoccer.com by 7:30 the day of the game. Be aware that it’s possible some fields could be closed and others open depending on the conditions. Generally we will play in a drizzle. The games can also be canceled at game time at the referee’s discretion if the playing conditions are unsafe.  Please note, just because fields in Belmont may be closed doesn’t mean fields in another town are.  We will email you if the game is cancelled.

Thanks,
